Adults
Strengthening Skills. Expanding Opportunity.

Adult Literacy
Confidence in Communication Creates Opportunity for All
The Adult Literacy program supports learners at all levels, from basic reading to improving English skills. Through one-on-one tutoring and small group classes, adults build the tools they need to read, write, and communicate with confidence at home, at work, and in the community.
Participants gain practical, everyday literacy such as reading a prescription, filling out forms, communicating at work, helping with homework, and navigating life with confidence. Many learners go on to pursue career opportunities, further education, or U.S. citizenship.
Every learner receives encouragement, respect, and support to reach their personal goals.

Citizenship Class
Your Voice Matters. Your Journey Starts Here.
Literacy Collier’s Citizenship Classes help adults prepare for the U.S. naturalization exam with confidence. Our trained instructors guide learners through the civics test questions, English reading and writing requirements, and the USCIS interview process. Classes are supportive, accessible, and designed for adults at a variety of language levels.
Becoming a citizen opens doors—better employment, increased stability, civic engagement, and a deeper sense of belonging. Many participants join Citizenship Classes after completing our Adult Literacy or ESL programs, building on the skills they already have.

Financial Literacy
Building Confidence Through Financial Understanding
This course provides knowledge and skills to manage financial resources effectively. It focuses on improving awareness of credit, banking services, savings, and basic money management. Financial skills education can be critical to helping individuals manage their money, protect themselves from predatory practices, plan for their financial future, and increase their quality of life. Experts in the banking industry will be guest speakers throughout the year.
Health Literacy
Stronger Understanding. Healthier Communities.
This course focuses on practical, real-world scenarios rather than abstract grammar. The focus is on the "Four Pillars" of health literacy: Describing Symptoms: Moving beyond "I feel bad" to precise descriptions of pain, duration, and bodily functions. The Pharmacy & Medication: Understanding dosages, reading "Warning" labels, and asking pharmacists the right questions. The Healthcare System: Learning the difference between Primary Care, Urgent Care, and the ER—and how to make an appointment for each. Advocating for Yourself: Understanding your rights, using an interpreter, and asking clarifying questions like, "Can you explain that in simpler terms?"
